KUWAIT, Sept 1, 2013 (KUNA) --

To familiarize Kuwait with the sport of Polo, two Kuwaiti players have decided to participate in a Polo tournament that will be held in September 7 in the United Kingdom.

Salman Khuraibet, the 1st Kuwaiti registered member of the HPA

Hurlingham Polo Association (HPA) told KUNA on Sunday that this prestigious sporting event will be attended by 30 Kuwaiti figures, as honorary guests. The aim of his participation, alongside with Polo player

Hussam Al-Kharafi, is to bring pride to Kuwait and to gather support for establishing the first Polo club in Kuwait.

Polo is becoming popular in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Iran, Jordan, Morocco and other Arab countries, the 2nd ranking international Polo player said. Polo clubs in these Arab countries have had the deepest impact in spreading the word of Polo as a great sport. "That is what we are trying to achieve for Kuwait," Khuraibet stressed. He lauded efforts that strive to set up a Polo club in Kuwait and said that having a specialized club would increase the sport's popularity and generate more support for its players to engage in international and regional events.
