Kuwait Polo Club takes Dubai by storm!

A fantastic beginning for Kuwait Polo Club. Lead by their Captain, Eng. Hussam Al Kharafi they competed in their first official polo tournament. It was early April in Dubai for the DPEC POLO CHAMPIONS CUP (4 Goal). And guess what....... They WON!!!

The team lined up with, No.1. Hussam Al Kharafi, No.2. Marina Galarza, No.3. Sabine Shaffer, No.4. Facundo F. Llorente.

The Team was as put together at the last minute, as the availability of horses and players were challenging. Undaunted the team gathered in Dubai, began scouting for horses to rent. Eventually they were able to put together a string that they could compete with. All throughout with a positive attitude they started to practise and put together some team strategies and developed a good understanding.

As the week progressed and they were winning game by game, the team played to their various individual strengths, unrelentingly. Facundo was the game controller from the back, using his attacks at goal very astutely. The two in the middle, Marina and Sabine, gave their absolute best in marking their respective opposites. Hussam at 1 played his heart out, both in attack and defence. They were playing against seasoned teams that were riding their own horses, so this made the wins even more incredible.

Come the final. Playing against the red hot team of Dr.'A' from Dubai with their fabulous horses were undeniably unbeatable favourites. "Cometh the moment, cometh the man" Kuwait had other ideas. As a close group, all knowing their jobs, KPC jumped out of the first line out and scored. KPC got a great start and maintaining a lead throughout, got to the last chukka, 3 goals up. Dr. 'A' gave one almighty last effort to surpass the visitors but it was in vain as KPC with their steely grit held their nerve, WINNERS.
